Using an Object Reference Approach to Distributed Updates
نویسندگان
چکیده
With the Object-Reference (ORef) approach, the traditional object-oriented model is extended with references to act as a canonical model. Our ORef model facilitates the storage of localised behaviour and provides a precise de nition for updating objects across distributed information systems. Both these characteristics are realised using an Object Pool connectivity mechanism that connects local and global object pairs.

Object Storage on CRAQ
Massive storage systems typically replicate and partition data over many potentially-faulty components to provide both reliability and scalability. Yet many commerciallydeployed systems, especially those designed for interactive use by customers, sacrifice stronger consistency properties in the desire for greater availability and higher throughput. This paper describes the design, implementatio...
متن کاملAn Investigation into Employee Job Satisfaction and Its Impact on Organizational Effectiveness with Special Reference to the Buffalo City College
This study was aimed at investigating the impact of employee job satisfaction on organizational effectiveness at the Buffalo City College in East London, South Africa. Job satisfaction is critical in ensuring the continued growth and effectiveness of any organization. This study assessed the levels of job satisfaction among academic lecturers at Buffalo City College. A quantitative research app...
متن کاملEfficient Garbage Collection for Large Object - Oriented Databases
This thesis presents the design of an efficient garbage collection scheme for large, persistent object-oriented databases in a client-server environment. The scheme uses a partitioned approach. A database is divided into disjoint partitions and each partition is collected independently. The scheme maintains transaction semantics and survives server crashes. It can be run concurrently with clien...
متن کاملc-Lock: Dynamic Lock-coalescing for Latency-sensitive Distributed Locking
Transactional updates to groups of keys are common to a wide class of distributed systems, spanning MapReduce-based workloads, distributed key-value stores and conventional distributed object databases. Such updates are typically implemented using nested transactions/ locks. The cost of such updates is critically dependent on the nesting depth, the contention on any one lock, and the coherence ...
متن کاملIrregular data-parallelism in a parallel object-oriented language by means of Collective Replication
In parallel object-oriented languages it is hard to elegantly express efficient data-parallel operations on objects of an irregularly-shaped object structure that is spread across the parallel computing environment. This paper presents a new programming model that smoothly integrates both task and data parallelism in a distributed object-oriented context. So called Collective Replication combin...
